Rights for this half term

This half term the focus in our Learning Challenge Curriculum is History and Music. The children in the RRSA Steering Group have chosen some of the children’s rights that link to this topic. They are as follows:

Article 17: Every child has the right to reliable information from the media. This should be information that children can understand. Governments must help protect children from materials that could harm them.

Article 29: Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full.

Article 31: Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of cultural and artistic activities.

Day for Change this Friday 7th February!

On Friday 7th February, our school will be supporting UNICEF UK’s Day for Change. It is a great opportunity for our pupils to learn about and raise money for children in other parts of the world.

In return for a donation of £1 to help UNICEF’s vital work, your child will join the pupils and staff of the school by changing their school routine and coming to school in their own clothes. All money will go to UNICEF. We will be looking at school life in other countries and comparing how similar or different they might be to our own. If there are any parents who have experienced going to school in another country, we would like to hear all about it! Please see your child’s class teacher to arrange a suitable time during the Friday to come in and share your experiences.

Every year, UNICEF UK’s Day for Change focuses on a different theme. In 2014, Day for Change is all about education. Going to school gives children the chance of a brighter future. But about 68 million children around the world still don’t have access to education.

Together, we can change this. By taking part in Day for Change, we can ensure that every child has the opportunity to go to school.

UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, is the world’s leading organisation working for children and their rights. They work with families, local communities, partners and governments in more than 190 countries to help every child realise their full potential.
UNICEF supports children by providing health care, nutrition and education.

Thank you for your support for this worthwhile and educational day.
