We would really like to invite parents to join our Steering group for the Rights Respecting School Award! Would you like to join? We are working really hard to achieve Level 1 of the award and mew meet every Thursday lunchtime at 12.20. If you would like to find out more, or volunteer to join our group, please see Mrs Powell, Mrs Whelan or Mrs Ali.
We will be taking part in this year’s Day for Change on Friday 7th February. This year, it will focus on Education and every child’s right to go to school. We will also be linking it with languages and thinking about schools in different countries. We are very keen for the children, and any willing parents, to share their experiences of schools in other countries. We will also be having a non-uniform day to raise money for Unicef.
More details will follow and a letter will be sent home nearer the date.
Welcome back and Happy New Year from the RRSA Steering Group! This year we are hoping to achieve our RRSA Level 1 and are looking forward to being assessed later in the term.
Our whole school topic focus this half term is a Geography one, so during our meeting this week, the children in the steering group chose some articles to link to this. They chose:
Article 10: governments must act quickly and sympathetically if a child or their parents want to live together in the same country. If a child’s parents live apart in different countries, the child has the right to visit both of them.
Article 30: every child has the right to learn and use the language, customs and religion of their family, regardless of whether these are shared by the majority of the people in the country where they live.
Article 8: governments must respect every child’s right to a name, nationality and family ties.
We look forward to hearing about what each class does around these articles.
